The Fault in Our Stars Book Review
The Fault in our Stars was a captivating read that managed to be fun and charming while also provoking deep thought about what it means to live a fulfilling life. Obviously I enjoyed the fun characters and jokes made throughout the story, but most of all, I enjoyed searching for the deeper meaning behind each paragraph, each text, and each decision.
The main character Hazel had a very down-to-earth personality that made her relatable in some parts, and outright hilarious in others. And I absolutely adored the over-the-top personality of Augustus Waters. The two leads complimented each other well as they challenged one another and comforted each other.
What I like most about this book is that no character’s point of view is presented as the right way. John Greene simply allows the characters to make their own choices. They live their lives while we observe and decide for ourselves what to make of it. Each character’s approach can be equally criticized and praised. So, while there were times I agreed with certain characters, there were other times I outright rejected their outlook.
Overall, I think this was a great read that you will dwell on a lot. John Greene does an amazing job of making this novel both meaningful and entertaining, while tackling a difficult subject.
